Title of the project:
"Sharing experience on the use of historic heritage
for development of border areas"
Partners: The Association of the Communes Polish Gothic
Castles, Warmińskie Museum in Lidzbark Warmiński, a
branch of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury Museum in
Olsztyn, the Administration of the District of Bagrationovsk
The duration of the project: 4th January 2010 - 3rd
June 2010
The value of the project: 16,225 euro
The project is performed from the Fund of Small Transborder
and Interregional Grants and from the means of the European
Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian
Financial Mechanism.
The main objective of the project is to exchange the
experience between two Polish partners and one Russian
partner on using cultural and historic heritage towards
development of tourism and economy in small and medium
towns (communes) in north-eastern Poland and Kaliningrad
Oblast.
The main activities of the project: a visit of the
Russian partners in the castles in Lidzbark Warmiński
and Ryn, preparation of a development plan for the castle
Preussisch Eylau in Bagrationovsk, publication of a
tourist map showing the trail of the Napoleonic Army
leading through the castles in north-eastern Poland
and Kaliningrad Oblast.
The project supports cooperation of partners who share
historic past. The mutual heritage is now represented,
for example, by the castles of the former State of the
Teutonic Knights or traces of the campaign of Napoleon
Bonaparte's army in East Prussia (today, north-eastern
part of Poland and Kaliningrad Oblast). The aim of the
project will be attained by creating transboder tourist
products, which will link Poland and Russia (Kaliningrad
Oblast).
